Getting electric service started doesn’t have to be complicated. This page outlines the typical steps for establishing new electric service with Lewis County PUD. While every project is unique, this overview will help you understand the process from start to finish.
Step 1: Getting Started
Apply for Engineering Services online or by submitting an Engineering Services Application. Once we receive your application a non-refundable application fee will be invoiced. Payment is required before an Engineering Technician is assigned to your project. The application fee is applied toward construction charges when design is complete. Applications are valid for one year from the date of application.
Step 2: Your Site Visit
An Engineering Technician will contact you to schedule a site visit. During this visit, the technician will review your project, explain Lewis County PUD standards, and discuss customer and contractor responsibilities.
Step 3: Designing Your Service
After the site visit, your Engineering Technician will complete the electric service design and calculate applicable charges. Before invoicing, the design and costs go through an internal quality review to ensure accuracy.
Step 4: Reviewing Costs
Once the design is approved, you will receive an invoice for construction-related charges. If work has not been completed within six months of the invoice date, charges may be adjusted to reflect current cost. Payment in full is required before electric service can be installed or completed.
Step 5: Customer & Contractor Responsibilities
- Complete all requirements discussed with your Engineering Technician during the site visit.
- Request underground utility locates before digging by calling 811 or (800) 424-5555.
- Obtain an approved electrical inspection for the meter base from Washington State Labor & Industries (L&I). Switchboard: (360) 902-5800 https://lni.wa.gov
- Notify your Engineering Technician once all required work is complete
Final Review & Construction
Once customer work is complete, your engineering technician will perform a final inspection. Approved projects are released to Operations for construction scheduling. Scheduling depends on workload, project scope, and time of year. If contractor coordination or a specific date is needed, two weeks’ notice is requested.
