Due to high river flows on the Cowlitz River, we regretfully must cancel the Kids’ Fishing Derby scheduled for Saturday, June 11. High flows on the river require the Cowlitz Falls Hydroelectric Project to lower the reservoir elevation behind the dam. The lower reservoir elevation drains the Day Use Park fishing pond and leaves no water remaining for the fish. The current Cowlitz River flows will require us to lower the Cowlitz Falls reservoir beginning Friday (today) and into Saturday. After river flows recede, the Day Use Park will reopen to fishing by late next week.
