(Port Blakely has installed a temporary road block just west of the takeout road and will be locking the gate at the Lewis County Dam for approximatley two months. However, access to the take out will remain open.)

Copper Canyon Creek Take-Out Site
The Copper Canyon Creek take-out site provides whitewater boats a location to exit the Cispus River before as they enter the Cowlitz Falls Reservoir. The take-out site is located on the south shore of the Cispus River about one mile above the confluence with the Cowlitz River.

Road Access
Road access from US Hwy 12 at Randle is by way of the SR 131 and USFS 25 road to the Cispus River bridge (8.7 miles) After across the bridge take the first right, travel west on the gravel 300 road through private lands owned by Port Blakely Tree Farms, L.P. and Rayonier Forest Products. Proceed on the 300 Road (4.7 miles) to the 340 road on the right, just past the Copper Canyon Creek Bridge. Private roads are narrow so take extreme care when traveling these roads. Forest Service and private roads are normally open to public access except for times of extreme weather conditions (e.g., flooding, snow, fire danger) and for safety reasons if there is nearby active forest operations or poor road conditions. Check for current road closure information on Port Blakely’s website (Port Blakely Gate Closure Information) prior to traveling or call the PUD’s office, from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday, at 360-740-9261 and ask for Debbie Angwood. Open Year Round
The take-out site is gated but is open year-round to walk-in access from the 300 Road. Parking is available for those that choose to walk the 1200 feet distance from the 300 Road down the 340 Road to the site. If you are interested in vehicle access to the site, please submit an application with proof of insurance to the PUD through the following link, Vehicle Entry Application.
The take-out site has been developed with a loop road for turn-around and easy loading, portable restroom, garbage receptacle, picnic table, parking area, trails and an open area for loading vehicles. No overnight camping or fires are allowed.
