Green Power

Green Power is electricity generated from a clean, renewable energy source such as solar, wind, biomass, landfill gas, low impact hydro, or geothermal. Lewis County PUD customers who wish to promote the use and development of Green Power can do so now.

Lewis County PUD has contracted with Energy Northwest to Purchase approximately 6 megawatt of power from it's Nine Canyon Wind Project Phase I and III near Kennewick. Phase I began commercial operation in September 2002 and Phase III began commercial operation in Spring 2008. In order to help meet the renewable energy requirement of Initiative 937, the District has purchased 10% (or approximately 20.5 MW) of the White Creek Wind Project near Goldendale, Washington.

Lewis County PUD has established a voluntary Green Power Energy rate. The rate offers to those customers willing to do so the opportunity to purchase 100 kilowatt-hour blocks of energy for an additional cost of $2.00 per month for each block. In addition, from time-to-time Lewis County PUD is able to offer renewable energy certificates wholesale via Western Renewable Energy Generation Information System (WREGIS) operating protocol.

For more information on wholesale availability or to sign up for this new program, contact Lewis County PUD Chehalis Office at 360-748-9261 or Lewis County PUD Morton Office at 360-496-6100.
